Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for coating
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon for coating

Method

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, and melted butter. Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed (do not overmix).
  3. Heat oil in a deep pot over medium heat until 350°F (175°C).
  4. Using a small cookie scoop or spoon, drop spoonfuls of batter into hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning to brown evenly.
  5. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. In a shallow bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar. While warm, roll donut holes in the mixture until well coated.
  7. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Keep the oil at the right temperature for even cooking.
  • Fry in small batches for best results.
  • Coat while warm so the cinnamon sugar sticks perfectly.
